U.S. Missiles Strike Libyan Air-Defense Targets

President Obama, speaking during a visit to Brazil, reiterated promises that no American ground forces would be used. “I am deeply aware of the risks of any military action, no matter what limits we place on it,” he said. “I want the American people to know that the use of force is not our first choice, and it’s not a choice that I make lightly. But we can’t stand idly by when a tyrant tells his people that there will be no mercy.”

　例えばハリウッド映画を世界に広めて世界中の人々が民主的資本主義的アメリカ的ライフスタイルを送りたくさせる、というのが「ソフトパワー戦略」と呼ばれるものでアメリカはかなり前からこの戦略をとってきたと聞いたのだけど、今回は最初にfacebook、twitterというソフトパワーが民主化運動の口火を切っている。これからは、独裁者には「ハードパワー」で懲らしめて民主化を目指す、というある種伝統的なやり方も加わっていくのでしょう……。
　考えてみれば今回のような「facebook,twitter」というソフトパワープラス「U.S.ARMY」というハードパワーのコンボってかなり強力で、アメリカ（と同盟諸国）側からしてみればもう自分たちが武装して事を収めに行く前からインターネットで「ある程度」民主化のコンセンサスはとれているから、やりやすいのではないのかな。素人考えですが。
　インターネットが情報インフラになればなるほど、それを使う人の考え方もそれに規定されるようになっていくのだろうなと思います。
